A ž-Žama'u
Wa A b tallati
A l-`Urū qu
Wa Th abata
A l-'Aj ru 'In
Sh ā 'a
A l-Lhu.
(168) ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ،
وَابْتَلَّتِ
العُرُوْقُ، وَثَبَتَ
الأَجْرُ
إِنْ شَاءَ
اللَّهُ.

‘AAabdulla h Ibn AAamr Ibn Al-AAas
t
related that the Messenger of Alla h
r
said: ‘Indeed the fasting person has at the time of breaking fast
a
supplication which is not rejected’. Ibn Abee Mulaykah said: ‘I Heard
AAabdulla h Ibn AAomar say when he broke his fast:
‘O Alla h
I ask You by Your
mercy which envelopes all things
that You forgive me.’
(169) Al-Lahumm a 'Inn ī
'As'aluka Biraĥmatika A llatī
Wasi`at Kulla Sh ay'in
'An
Tagh fir a Lī.
(169) اللَّهمَّ
إِنِّي
أَسْأَلُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ الَّتِي
وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيء،ٍ أَنْ
تَغْفِرَ لِي.
65. Supplication
before eating

‘When you are about to eat
you
should say:
‘In the name of Alla h.
…and if you forget to say it before
starting
then you should say (when you remember):
‘In the name of Alla h in it’s
beginning and end.’
(170) Bismi A l-Lhi.
Bismi A ll ā hi
Fī 'Awwalihi
Wa 'Ā kh ir ihi.
(170) بِسْمِ اللَّهِ.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
فِي أَوَّلِه
ِِ وَآخِرِهِ.

‘Whomever Alla h feeds
should
say:
‘O Alla h
bless it for us and
feed us better than it.’
… .and whomever Alla h
gives milk to drink should say :
‘O Alla h
bless it for usand
give us more of it.’
(171) Al-Lahumm a Bār ik
Lanā Fī hi
Wa 'Aţ `im nā
Kh ayrāan Minhu.
Al-Lahumm a
Bār ik Lanā Fī hi
Wa Zid nā Minhu.
(171) اللَّهمَّ
بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيْهِ وَأَطْعِمْنَا
خَيْرا ً مِنْهُ.
اللَّهمَّ
بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيْهِ وَزِدْنَا
مِنْهُ.
66.Upon completing
the meal

‘All praise is for Alla h who fed
me this and provided it for me without any might nor power from myself.’
(172) Al-Ĥam du Lill ā hi
A l-Ladh ī 'Aţ `amanī
Hādh ā Wa Razaqanī hi
Min Gh ayr i Ĥawlin
Minn ī Wa Lā Qūwatin .
(172) الحَمْدُ للهِ
الَّذِي
أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا
وَرَزَقَنِيْهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ
حَوْل ٍ مِنِّي
وَلا قُوَّة.ٍ

‘Alla h be praised with an
abundant beautiful blessed praise
a never-ending praise
a praise which
we will never bid farewell to and an indispensable praise
He is our
Lord.’
There are other views as regards to the
understanding of this supplication
from them: Alla h be
praised with an abundant beautiful blessed praise. He is The One Who is
sufficient
feeds and is not fed. The One Who is longed for
along with
that which is with Him and The One Who is needed
He is our Lord.’
(173) Al-Ĥam du Lill ā hi
Ĥam dāan
Kath īrāan Ţayyibāan
Mubārakāan Fī hi
Gh ayra Makfī yin
Wa Lā Muwad da`in
Wa Lā Mustagh n áan `Anhu
Rab bunā.
(173) الحَمْدُ للهِ حَمْدا
ً كَثِيْرا ً طَيِّبا
ً مُبَارَكا ً
فِيْهِ، غَيْرَ مَكْفِيّ ٍ
وَلا مُوَدَّع ٍ وَلا مُسْتَغْنىً
عَنْهُ رَبُّنَا.
67.Supplication of
the guest for the host

bless for them
that
which You have provided them
forgive them and have mercy upon them.’
(174) Al-Lahumm a Bār ik
Lahum Fīmā Razaq tahum
Wa A gh fir Lahum
Wa A rĥam hum .
(174) اللَّهمَّ
بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِيْمَا رَزَقْتَهُمْ،
وَاغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ.
68.Supplication said
to one offering a drink or to one who intended to do that

feed him who fed me
and provide with drink him who provided me with drink.’

أَطْعِمْ
مَنْ أَطْعَمَنِي، وَاسْقِ مَنْ
سَقَانِي.
69. Supplication said
when breaking fast in someone’s home

إذا أفطر عند أهل بيت

‘May the fasting break their fast in
your home
and may the dutiful and pious eat your food
and may the
angles send prayers upon you.’
(176) 'Afţara `In dakumu
A ş-Şā 'imū na
Wa 'Akala Ţa`āmakumu A l-'Ab rā ru
Wa Şallat `Alaykumu A l-Malā 'ikatu.
(176) أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَكُمُ
الصَّائِمُوْنَ
وَأَكَلَ طَعَامَكُمُ الأَبْرَارُ،
وَصَلَّتْ عَلَيْكُمُ المَلائِكَةُ.
70.
Supplication said by one fasting when presented with food and does not
break his fast

الصائم إذا حضر الطعام ولم يفطر

‘If you are not invited (to a meal)
then answer. If you happen to be fasting
then supplicate (for those
present) and if you are not fasting
then eat.’
(177)
إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدَكُمْ فَلْيُجِبْ، فَإِنْ كَانَ صَائِماً فَلْيَصِلَ
وَإِنْ كَانَ مُفْطِراً فَلْيَطْعَمْ.
وَمَعَنَى فَليَصِلَ أَي فَلْيَدَعَ.
71. Supplication said
upon seeing the early or premature fruit

عند رؤية باكورة الثمر

‘O Alla h
bless our fruit for
us
bless our town for us
bless our sa AA for us and bless
our mudd for us.’
A sa AA is equivalent to
four mudds and a mudd is equivalent to a dry measure of an
average man’s two palms.
(178) Al-Lahumm a Bār ik
Lanā Fī Th amar inā
Wa Bār ik
Lanā Fī Madīnatinā
Wa Bār ik Lanā
Fī Şā`inā
Wa Bār ik Lanā Fī Mud dinā.
(178) اللَّهمَّ
بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي ثَمَرِنَا،
وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي مَدِيْنَتِنَا،
وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي صَاعِنَا،
وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي مُدِّنَا.
